Maria Alm

 

Located in the Pinzgau District of Salzburgerland, Austria, Maria Alm is approx 40 miles South East of the city of Salzburg.

 

Salzburg Airport is around 45 minutes to an hour by car.  The journey could not be much easier, with two different routes to choose from.

 

Quite simply, exit Salzburg Airport, turn left, and follow the main road to Saalfelden via Lofer.

How to get there….

 

By Air from the UK

Salzburg is the closest International Airport, and is around 45minutes to 1 hour by car.  The flights are around 90 minutes from the UK, and Ryanair fly direct from Stanstead 3-times a day.  There are plenty of car hire companies at Salzburg Airport, or a very reliable Train and Bus route.

Alternatively, EasyJet and British Airways etc fly diret to Munich.  Munich Airport is approx 2 to 3 hours drive to Maria Alm.

 

By Bus and/or Rail or Taxi from Salzburg Airport

A short bus ride from Salzburg Airport to the mainline station, and then a scenic ride south.

Through the valley of Hallein, past Bischofshofen, around the valley of Zell am See and up to Saalfelden.  There a short bus ride up to Maria Alm, and you will be dropped at the bus stop virtually out side the house.  Total journey time is around 2 hours 30 minutes on public transport.

The Trains are run by OBB (Austrian National Service)  you will find an English page that shows the train and connecting bus direct to Maria Alm.

Taxis can be booked (up to 8-seaters) and can cost around £70 each way.

 

By Car from the UK

It is around 700 miles from Calais to Maria Alm.  The majority is Motorway and the best thing is

NO TOLLS. 

Suggested route :

Calais to Lille, into Belgium to Namur, then South to Luxembourg,  into Germany at Pirmaasen and onto Karlsruhe, Stuttgart to Ulm and then around Munich, finally crossing the border into Austria near Salzburg.

There are plenty of hotels to choose from for an overnight stop if required.  The journey can be done in around 10 hours from Calais.
